The library media center (LMC) is located in the front southern wing of the high school. The fiction books, books written by Kentucky writers, the new books, the audio/visual room, the server room, and the career materials are located on the upper level. The lower level contains the reference section, biographies and autobiographies, nonfiction materials, computers, a storage room, Mrs. LeBaron's office, and the media center's office.
The LMC is open from 7:30 am -3:15pm. Students may come before school, after, with a class, or with teacher permission to check out or return materials, to use the computers, or to research.
Students are permitted to access WiFi in the LMC using their own devices or the school's iPad; however, they must have teacher permission to be in the media center and must be working on educational tasks.
Students may choose their own due dates up to one month. We don't charge any late fees; however, students must pay for lost or damaged items. In order to attend any field trips, students must be in "good standing" (no over-due, lost, or damaged materials) with the library.
The OCHS library media center works in collaboration with the Ohio County Public Library so that the students can access ebook located on the OverDrive service that is sponsored by the public library.
We also host a book fair two times each year. During the two weeks prior to fall break and spring break, students and families are welcome to shop from the online book fair and from the live book fair located within the school's library.
If you have any questions about the operations of the OCHS library media center, please feel free to contact the library media specialist.
