NCLB Waiver

Dear Teachers,

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has posted the state’s Draft ESEA waiver request document for flexibility from the requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)/No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act on the KDE website. We welcome you to review the waiver request document and its accompanying appendix and send us your comments/feedback.  If the state’s waiver request for flexibility is accepted, the Unbridled Learning Accountability Model would provide a single designation for both state and federal accountability. The deadline for submission of thewaiver request is November 14, and the U.S. Department of Education will review applications in December.  We hope to have approval during January.

To access the waiver request and the accompanying appendix, click on the following links:

We will accept comments on the application until close of business on Tuesday, November 8 and those may be sent to the following e-mail address: eseawaiverrequest@education.ky.gov.

If you have questions on the waiver request or submitting comments, contact Mary Ann Miller at maryann.miller@education.ky.gov or via phone at (502) 564-3141.
